Splash and Swim, is a local swim school based in Whitley Bay, offering swimming lessons to babies, toddlers and children at Woodlawn School swimming pool in Monkseaton and Beacon Hill School swimming pool in Wallsend. We initially taught primary school aged children but have recently expanded to include babies, toddlers and twins.
These classes are a gentle introduction to the water for parent and baby using the therapeutic properties of the water as a bonding experience that will build mum’s confidence with baby together in the water.
These classes are similar in principle to Little Splashers and are about building water confidence for you and your child. Swimming with babies is a safe and gentle activity, but classes provide parents with the support to relax and enjoy the experience.
These classes are for children to access on their own whilst their parents remain poolside. We follow the national Learn to Swim award scheme from Swim England.
Splash and Swim instructors
Our team of swimming instructors have all undertaken a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and and hold up to date certificates, the instructors also have accredited Swim England – ASA Level 1 and ASA Level 2 teaching qualifications and a lifesaving qualification.
Swimming pool facilities
We currently use two pools for our swimming lessons and both of these are hydrotherapy pools within local schools, Woodlawn School – Monkseaton and Beacon Hill School – Wallsend. We find that the increased temperatures in the hydrotherapy pools allows the children to remain focused on the activities and not become as distracted.
